Rick,
thanks for the info on how to have vegas match the project settings to the media.
I tried it on a 1 hour clip and I still have audio about 3 or more seconds ahead of the video. It still looks in sync on the timeline.
One thing, the waveform on the audio line does not correspond to the audio I am hearing (using the computer speakers) but it still is in sync with the video. Is this a symptom?

another file that I have tried 4 times to get to render out in sync has in the clip preferences the video listed as:

Streams
Audio: 01:58:14.827, 32,000 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo, Windows Media Audio 9.1
Video: 01:58:14.854, 29.970 fps progressive, 320x240x24, Windows Media Video 9

29.97fps progressive? is that my problem? what setting can i use in the timeline preferences to match it? anybody have this issue?
this Clip is 1hr 10 min long, it starts out in sync but after 8-10 minutes it is noticably out of sync.

I too have carefully checked that the timeline prefs are set the same as the media on the timeline. I still get out of sync renders. Some of my media I get from connection to a PolyCom system, Those files are all fine, it’s the ones that were captured from our streaming media server (asf format) One of our providers has changed their output format to us to 24P. After I saw that; I tried to adjust the settings in the timeline prefs to match the media clip, I am still not able to get a render come out in sync!

So if they want to do this, they will need to manually transcribe the audio, then link it to the video/audio?
I was thinking that may be the case, also,Is there an easy way to synch the audio(once it is in print form) to scroll in a window as the video plays on the website?
I was wondering if there are apps designed for the hearing impaired that would do some of this.

The way it looks right now, I will probably need to fly there to see first hand what the issues could be. I have an install to do in that state so I will add it to the last day of my trip.

I agree that this would drop quality, We recieve educational material from many different sources that we add to our server to stream on demand. it always runs in 320×240 and I am told that the audio is more important than the Video. However, I was hired to raise the standards of the dept. and I am now in the process of questioning the workflow. (in addition to learning vegas on the fly) My background is primarily freelance corporate video production, I haven’t used Vegas much prior to this, are there any good online tutorial sites (besides this forum of course) where I can get training in flying this software higher?

I just did a test, I tried 10 different asf files from different vendors. it turns out that most of them will open on the timeline but 1 won’t. I plan on talking to our tech guys on Monday to see what is different from those particular files.
I am new at this position and I was told to convert all asf files in WME to be able to view in Vegas. That appears to be (mostly) untrue? has anyone else had a ASF file that won’t open on the timeline?
