I have the same problem with the Decklink Extreme. I used my iSight to try a voice over – just for fun… that works. I see the picture on the monitor, hear the original sound and could capture audio.
So I think there must be an XLR to USB (or optical) converter installed on the system to make the voice over function work as it is needed by most of the editors (by using a different input of your MAC).
It is a bit sad because I switched from the CineWave where all this voice over things works perfect.
