The real thing don’t seem expensive –

  • Check out Stereoscopic Player to see if it suits your requirements –
    https://www.3dtv.at/products/player/index_en.aspx

Plays 2 video files simultaneously in reasonable sync to each other. Just select the way you want them to play/output. Shareware pricing with trial version.

Have a look at the Datapath x4 Display Contoller and their Wall Designer software.

There are other solutions, some cheap but more cumbersome and less accurate framesync across displays, and some expensive with framesync accuracy. Just google for multidisplays or videowall.

“I never had this problem until recently for some reason…”

To me the problem lies elsewhere, not in AE. Some trouble-shooting suggestions –
    1. What program(s) did you install recently, or upgraded recently?
    2. Open msconfig.exe, look at the Startup list, disable any applications that you do not require at startup, but more importantly, see if you can identify a program that could be the problem – for example, a program that you do not recognize? Try googling for it, to see if it could be a problem.
    3. Look up the Processes in Task Manager to see if there is a process hogging resources. Trace back to the program if you can, and if it is something you do not require, disable or uninstall it. Else just stop the process, load AE and your usual other programs, and see if the crashes still exist.

    good luck!

  • Haven’t done this before but it sounds as if you need something like Ustream Align.

I guess you would upload/stream the camera capture to Ustream, and on the receiving end, have a PC with a dual-output graphics card in clone mode with one output to a monitor and the second output to the projector. You may want to put a VGA switch between this second output and the projector so that you can switch on/off the send to the projector, or have the company logo up when no live stream is available – some pro switchers/seamless switchers have such a feature (rent would be cheaper, unless to be used regularly)

Alternative to wi-fi, is direct from camera to the projector with something like the Teradek. But I think the Teradek needs line-of-sight to work well. Similar to microwave used in broadcasting sports events from the cameras in the field to the OB Van.

    best of luck!

    Mark,

    Just found this –
    https://glasslessmirror.com/scrim-glassless-mirrors.html

Custom sizes available too, and maybe the amount of reflection. Being glassless, makes transport and handling easier.

No experience with the Mac Pro, but according to:
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202801

there are 3 Thunderbolt busses for the 6 outputs. Perhaps it is just a matter of identifying which output the desktop menu keeps appearing on and make that your home screen – “if the mountain won’t come to you, then you must go to the mountain”.

I have a similar experience with a recent Windows 7 setup on a MSI board combining the onboard gpu (2 outputs – HDMI and DP) with 2 old AMD graphics cards (2 DVI-I outputs each) to get 6 discrete outputs for a stage musical (1 for application + 5 for projection). The ‘home screen’ or master display for my application kept coming up on Display 5, which was the one connected to the Display Port from the motherboard. So instead of fighting it, I merely made it my home screen, and every boot-up (cold or warm) was consistent, without having to re-configure my outputs.

The original fixer I had is now gainfully employed. But I do have another fixer/producer who comes highly recommended by a production house here. Please check your account here at the Cow.

  • My apologies too for assuming.
Perhaps my answer could have been better worded if it started as “Have you considered…”.
