Hi Andrew,

Many ways to do this… It can be as easy as adding a video track on top of that main content. lay the window images down on that track, crop and/or scale to fit in the box you want. Or you could put it all into another sequence and add a border effect or create some type of box graphic in photoshop and lay your video over that. Once it looks good you can just nest that whole sequence over the top of your main video and crop and scale it to fit. There is also a nice 3d tool under video filters/perspective/basic 3d that will allow you to skew the overlay on the X,Y,Z axis.

Also once you create an effect you like, you can just copy it to the next clip with right clik paste atributes select the motion box and apply. You may want to look…can’t recall… but I beleive there is a few prebuilt picture on pic effect you could just drop on the clips you want in the window.

The segate extream (1.5t) drive I’m using has esata, 400, or usb 2 as options. had no 400 cable at home here but found a usb 2 cable. I chucked the esata card…would you believe its not much slower and no crashes!
What I can’t figure is why it became so chronic, really only with FCP. It only crashed when I was trying to render or export.
Infact I’ve had this card for well over 5 months and used it with out trouble thats why my original post was focused on the problem being with FCP.

In addition we shot on hpx500 P2 in studio for 4 days last week (HD 1080i 60i) and I used this same rig to dump media, a couple terabites worth, with P2 veiwer and CMS, never had one crash.

Wonder why FCP and this project agrivate the esata card so much?
I got the card at the Mac store wonder if I can get a refund?

Well anyway things seem to be working now but slooowly.

Thanks for the help! I looked further into the griffen esata express card that I’m using and found this thread on apple discussion.

After the crashes that I’ve been having all of the reports that come up after re-boot reference a “Kernal Panic”. The chip 3132 is common in many of the esata cards and there appears to be a conflict between the card and osx 10.5.

Does not sound like there is a solution. Many blame card, many blame apple, some blame drives. I’m not sure what to do.. I would really like to to get the extra speed from the card… When its working, its great.
But now with this project I’m unable to render out the timeline without the screen of death and a instructions to turn off power. I’m sure FW 800 would work, I just need to move a bunch of data around first cause the segate drive I’m using is only esata or Fw 400. I’ll probably head in to the office tonight so I cam complete the project.

Any other ideas or insight would be appreciated
