I would also recommend trying this.

In AfterFX take your video layer and duplicate it (ctrl+D). Make the transfer mode multiply for the top layer. Then add a gaussian blur of 15-30 (I like around a 24) to the top layer. If the effect is too extreme you can lower the opacity of the top layer. You also might want to precomp the whole thing and play with the contrast/brightness etc. as multiplying tends to darken things. If your dream sequence is morose or not pleasant you can try totally desaturating the top layer for a bleach bypassy look. Or if your sequence is really upbeat and magical try upping the saturation.

This in addition to the vignetting, glow etc. should produce a really nice dream effect.
