Sorry about the laptop. A PC is perfect! And yes, it is very easy to add a firewire card to your PC. Anybody can do this.

I really like Vegas. But if I was going to work in a setting where everybody was working with FCP, I would start to learn FCP ASAP and stick to that…
I could tell you lots of stories about places where everybody sticks to its own favorite program (even to make simpel things like graphs) and all the things that can go wrong because of that, resulting in so much loss of time and useless discussions.Theo

Just go to your local computer store. They will show you a firewirecard (and probably place in into your laptop). Next is to connect the camera to the firewire card using the cable that will be supplied together with the card.

Just for my interest, can you make a screenshot from your Vegas 8 Pro with the OPTIONS-PREFERENCES-tab VIDEO open and the timeline plus trackheader visible?

Mike, you could be very well right that Val is working with Movie Studio. Movie Studio doesn’t have the THUMBNAILS TO SHOW IN VIDEO EVENTS option. In that case the solution is very simpel to get the thumbnails back onto the events: Ctrl + Shift + W (this will also work in Vegas Pro).

Do you have script-packages like Excalibur? They can remove all the FX on all the events in just one click.

Every page in the tab window has a row of 6 dots in the upper left corner. Just make sure that you drag your FX window to the window with the tabs in such a way that the upper let corner of the FX window ends on top of these dots. The rest goes by itself. Just play around a little and you will see how it works.

Things like Excalibur, Assistant Pro or Ultimate S can do this for you. These tools are very very valuble when you are creating slideshows.
