viewing images on timeline?
I can not see my timeline video images and do not know what I did to change my Vegas 8 setup. When I put a file on the timeline, I can preview it – but can not see what it is when it sits on timeline.
Any ideas?

Just press Ctrl + Shift + I to see the active take information.
And go to OPTIONS-PREFERENCES-tab VIDEO to set the display of thumbnails (choose between NONE, HEAD, TAIL etc.)

Thanks – I know see the text name on top of my timeline video clips but still can not see the video image of what each clip is. I could not find the option you referenced under the “preferences” section tab on video. I am using Vegas Pro8

In the OPTIONS-PREFERENCES-tab VIDEO in Vegas 8 Pro there is the option THUMBNAILS TO SHOW IN VIDEO EVENTS. This one allows you to choose between NONE, HEAD, HEAD/TAIL, HEAD?CENTER?TAIL and ALL. Unfortunately I am not at home now, otherwise I could have showed a screenshot of this option.

I can not find this option and have looked at everything under this tab in preferences. A screen shot would help if you can assist!

this option does not exist on my video tab under preferences.
I am running Vegas Pro 8 (build 144) -
I would just download the latest version of Vegas 8 Pro (which is 8c, unless you are working on a 64bits machine, then its 8.1) and re-install.

Are you 100% certain you’re running Vegas Pro 8 and not one of the Movie Studio versions?
I’m asking because my machine (Pro 8.0c) is at build 260). -
Mike, you could be very well right that Val is working with Movie Studio. Movie Studio doesn’t have the THUMBNAILS TO SHOW IN VIDEO EVENTS option. In that case the solution is very simpel to get the thumbnails back onto the events: Ctrl + Shift + W (this will also work in Vegas Pro).
