You say that your picture is 2000 x 2000. But What? Are this pixels?
If I make a new document with the size of 2000 x 2000 pixels and add a text in Comic Sanse with the size of 1296pt, it doesn’t fit on the document…

I have read somewere that the maximum size for a pucture that FCP can handle is 4000 x 4000 pixels.

In photoshop you can simply copy adjustment layers from one picture to other pictures. I don’t know whether this works the same in photoshop elements. But you can test.

Probably you have the mode set to 16 or 32 bits/channel. You have to put it at 8b/c

The autosave function of Excalibur is very usefull for this, because it can make incremental back-ups.
