[Adam Duplay] “Of course, I’ve already tired Google.”

    What lens do you have?

[ian blatchford] “Menu says Drop frame; SD 16:9; Frame rate 60i; 1080/60i. “

That’s 60 FIELDS (30 FRAMES) per second, interlaced.

[ian blatchford] ” if I shooting SD 60i what would my FCP presets be?”

    DV NTSC via Firewire.

    Google “Lens Caps.”

You buy them according to size.

I’m guessing that the “stereo” monitor selector position is in regard to the camera’s HEADPHONE output.

You COULD see what that output sounds like (use a patch cord like from a portable CD player that has a stereo mini plug on one end that breaks out to two RCA plugs.)

You could send those RCA plugs (via adapters) into an audio mixer and feed the mixer to your XLR inputs.

[Mark Dannunzio] “What would you suggest that I do to prevent this from happening? “

You need to first determine what is creating the problem.

Try moving the receiver to different parts of the room.

[Mark Dannunzio] “Could it be something to do with the frequency being used?”

    It could.
It could also be other RF interference sources, the construction of the room, or the location of the receiver relative to the transmitter.

May 1, 2009 at 4:54 am in reply to: Scratchy voice fix??

There is no easy fix. 😉

But, I think the voice has “character.”

You can increase the “low-end” and roll-off some of the “top-end” with EQ, but why mess with it?

Now, if the guy doesn’t normally sound like that because he was
suffering from a sore throat and/or a touch of laryngitis, you want to just re-record it
    after he recovers.

  • [Neil Weaver] “how on earth did the couple manage to get 4.5 hours of footage onto 4.7Gb discs in the first place? Would one of those camcorders that records straight to DVD have done that? “

Most set-top DVD recorders can record 4.5 hours on a 4.7GB single-layer DVD.
in fact, many can record up to 6 hours.

It doesn’t look very good (single field per frame, and lots of compression artifacts) but it is viewable for certain purposes.
