    Hi!

I have some takes done with two-camera. The TC are not at all identical. I have a slate with clap in beginning of each take.

Cam 1 is main camera (with audio)
Cam 2 also has audio, but will not be used.

I guess I can somehow use the Mofify Timecode for Cam 2.

But how do I put the two clips on timeline so that they are in sync?

The actual inpoint will (of course) not be at start, since I want to cut off the slate and start where the action is.

Any help on this is greatly appreciated!

    Line up the clap.

[Niklas Wikman] “The TC are not at all identical.”

Use the Aux TC feature to change the TC of one of the clips. There was an article on how to do this in the Creative Cow Magazine and you can look up Aux Timecode in the Help section of Final Cut Pro.

At NAB this year there was a company showing this:

    https://www.singularsoftware.com/pluraleyes/

It’s a program that syncs mulit cam clips by AUDIO waveforms, not timecode. It then will automatically
create a multiclip for you to edit with.

If you’re doing a lot of multicam work, it’s definitely worth a look.

[Niklas Wikman] “But how do I put the two clips on timeline so that they are in sync?”

As Walter said, line both up to the clap. Cut one in on V1, the other on V2. Now, if you DON’T want the clipper in the sequence, simply cut it out after you line things up. You are an editor, you can edit stuff you don’t want out.

That Singular Software is great when you don’t have a slate, and you start and stop the cameras several times. But when you have a slate, use it. After things are lined up…remove it. Simple.

You can also create a MULTICLIP with the clapper as the IN point. Then drop that multiclip into the timeline…AFTER the clapper.

I just edit a two camera job with none jam synk timecode camera and the audio was recorded with one of those cheep audio recorder Zoom H2 edit in FCP studio 2 and I did not want to use the multi-cam edit in FCP which I read up on several time and understand the procedure so I went the the way I normally do the edit.
1 I edit all the shot I want from the main camera
2 I lined up the audio of both camera on the time line blow the timeline up very big use Option + or – to slip them in perfect making sure the second camera is selected.
3 On the key board I use B for blade and T for selection tool to make all my cutaway or B role.
4 Last but not lease I lay down the audio from the Zoom H2 and it was perfect I surprised myself.

I will not do this again, if I am doing another two camera HiDef job I will rent a hd camera with jamsynk and brake out my old Fostex PD4 good luck and one love.
