OK, I tested it and normal playback performance stays pretty much the same so Angelo was correct. BUT! It does help if you use effects or have multiple tracks on like split screens etc.

[Angelo Lorenzo] “RED footage playback is not improved any way by the Mercury Playback Engine’s use of Cuda”

Yes it is. Where did you hear this?

    [criis daw] “MP4 (video)

    mp4: 640×360 15sec

As compressed as possible without losing image quality. Do not exceed
    100kb maximum”

This sounds that they have no idea what they’re doing because that size is impossible if you wan’t that resolution not losing image quality.

I’ts not easy and automated but the missing effect should show in the effects panel of the clip with a warning sign. I might be absolutely wrong though.

I forgot you don’t have the hover scrub feature in CS 5.5… But yes you can automate clips from the project bin like Gabriel said before.

A TIFF sequence for DVD authoring sounds pretty overkill because the client would still have to transcode it to mpeg2. If you need to render a file master out of it I’d probably use the dnxhd codec for that and if they only need to make the DVD a DVD-ready mpeg2 file would be smaller to transfer. Ask them what they want.

Just hover scrub and put random in/out points in the clips and automate it to the sequence.

If I remember correctly the Apple HDV codec will not work on Windows without special codecs. If you can capture straight to Prores or can transcode the footage to Prores it’d be better.

Are you using Gluetools or something with FCP? I know it has on option to set the fps of a sequence, but does it have a setting that defaults every imported sequence at 24fps?

I rendered a couple of sequences out and the framerate I set in render settings was correct in Premiere Pro and when I brought the sequences back.
