You can use that natively (if you have beefy enough computer that is). Bring the footage in with the media browser panel in Premiere.

Color grading should be the last part of your production. Lock the edit, do the effects work and then grade.

But it may be a bit overkill. I have made effects on movie that were shot on 4K but they were never mastered as 4K and they were usually made in 2K or full HD. Also if one does not have a powerful computer doing things in 4K is painful. You need A LOT of RAM if you want to preview large frames and if you’re dealing with uncompressed stuff you’ll need pretty fast disks/SSDs in a RAID.
I’d say that one of the most important thing is to consult with the colorist and how he/she is using the footage because there are a zillion different options in the RED source settings. I try to keep the same settings when I’m doing the effects so I can blend them in better.

25fps interlaced is usually called 50i and maybe that’s why it shows you that. If you bring it back to Premiere and it says 25fps LFF you should be good to go.

If you have a newer version of Encore you can export a Flash “website” out of it. It’s just basically the same menu layout and you can open it in a browser to view it.

Are you using GPU acceleration? You might try turning that off.

What is your source footage and what format are you saving it to?

Yeah it’s probably 59.94i and that’s basically interlaced 29.97. Like 50i is actually 25fps not 50fps.

There is also the classic point about cost. Whereas you could easily get AE yourself, there probably is no damn way you’d buy a Quantel iQ/Pablo or a Flame because of the semi-insane prices of those.
I’ve used AE, Quantel iQ and Smoke/Flame 2012 and there really isn’t a huge performance gap between these. iQ is a great online tool, but not so great tool for just effects and compositing. Flame is really nice when it comes to media management and node based compositing and it’s fairly easy to learn if you know the basics. Smoke is goddamn terrible for editing but it has basically the same tools as Flame.
