    the first frames are not particularly important. Being myself technically precise I didn’t find nice to be able to set IN point to a frame that can’t be actually captured; good behaviour could be to tell that a particular IN setting cannot be accepted.
    Thanks for the good explanation of problems involved with the beginning of the tape. Now I know something else to take care with new tapes.

    hi jon,

    actually it doesn’t work, because via device control or manually hitting G, PPR goes in recording mode, but doesn’t actually start capturing, until it realizes there are some frames to capture (play mode), and the problem comes from the time it realizes platy is active and the moment it actually start capturing.
    the only way is to start capturing and then going REWIND during PLAY (exactly until it reah the beginning otherwise it stops) and then cutting from the exact point: like this it only drops one frame, but then is much easier to use WinDV… I just doen’t like not being able to obtain the same with PPR.
