No, Moving Picture would be quicker and easier than After Effects for this, since it’s well-designed and integrated for this specialized purpose alone.

As John Pale pointed out, you’d be well served using a program called Moving Picture, made by Stagetools. It opens within the Avid interface and works with the high resolution still images. I’ve happily used it for several years. Takes no time to learn, and it’s cheap to buy. Very quick and user-friendly, with surpisingly fast render times.
Avid is still the most elegant, efficient and sophisticated professional editing application available, by the way. In the opinion of mine and many other successful professional Hollywood editors, its focus is and has always been on maximizing the creative editing experience. A toolkit of plugins like Moving Picture, Sapphire and Boris (or Avid FX) which are designed to tightly integrate with Avid, completes an excellent editing suite.

And incidentally, that glowing (and accurate) review was written before Avid slashed its price in half (to $2500), and the upgrade from Xpress Pro to $500 from $3000. They’re amazing deals.

Grinner, always the jerk. He just flogs FCP incessantly for whatever his agenda may be, and on this thread he’s always been an insufferable asshole, with no meaningful rhyme or reason. His responses are completely predictable, because they will always be negative and demeaning.

Having not visited these forums for several months, I can see Grinner is still the same insufferable, irrelevant asshole as before (no big surprise). He masquerades on occasion as a source of help for Avid newbies, but usually just comes off as an abrasive shill for Apple with a mission of destroying Avid’s reputation for high quality products. He’s incredibly irritating and way out of line with his comments.
I can’t wait for the day when he disappears from these boards forever.

You remind me of thousands on the Yahoo! stock message boards who get a bad reputation for relentlessly pumping the stocks they’re invested in and bashing the stocks they’ve shorted. Their posts don’t make much of a contribution to anyone else on the boards.
I think some on this board are way too tolerant of your indiscriminate, knee-jerk Avid basher and FCP pumper attitude.
