    I had already checked “use maximum render quality” for previous renders, but I didn’t explore enabling and disabling the MPE. My previous videos were all rendered with MPE disabled, since the card was not “adobe supported”. I added my video card to the supported list (gtx 480), and did a comparison with MPE enabled and disabled. The MPE enabled render worked great!

    So, apparently I need MPE enabled in cs 5.5 to get similar results to cs 5.0.

    note: My cs 5.0 renders had MPE disabled.

    Solved.

    Hey Vince, thanks for responding.

    I’ve just tried exporting with your dimensions and with the pixel ratio set to square, and got the same results.

    Interestingly in another test, exporting with a sequence set up as interlaced actually gives better text quality, but then the horizontal lines in the pip jitter, such as the boarder or when the speaker closes he eyes. Which is strange since both sources videos should be progressive.
