    Hi Rafael

Thanks for that info. So as a simple question as you are obviously in the “know how”. What do you suggest i do when importing in FCP X. And why do i get the quality loss when i look at the captured DV media in the Original Media folder.
Should i use a different software to capture.?

I have looked into a few other forums and seems that i am not the only person having this trouble with DV capture which again seemed so simple to do in Pinnacle.

    Thanks

    Hi Andy

Thanks for the info.. but the other problem is that when i import the footage from my Sony HVR Z1E, the footage captured is seriously down in quality and sharpness and a lack of colour even thou when imported the movie files in the “original media” are huge. This has been a constant case even with FCE Express, and Adobe Premier and i movie..Its not the editing that is annoying me. So basically imported footage is low in quality but big in file size. I can only put this down to me having a mac. This is my second Mac Book Pro..great at everything but this.
Like i have said. When i imported footage into a PC laptop using cheap Pinnacle software the imported footage was as per tape. 100% QUALITY.
This is the only problem i cannot seem to solve.

    Hi Rafael

Thanks for your email. Problem is FCP X does not seem to give an option to edit in 50i. If you can give me an email address i will send you the screen shot of my options which seem to only offer me the following- in 1080i i get option of 25i or 29.97i. In PAL SD i only get option of 25i.

    Thanks

October 9, 2011 at 4:39 pm in reply to: FCPX 50 fps..??

    Hi Rafael

thanks for the info..As we are starting to get an understanding here. I can now explain better.
When i import into FCPX or FCP and then export at full quality, the image is always fuzzy. Never sharp. It will also never export at same setting as original movie. Hence i write about dropping frames. When you wrote “Don’t mess with Shutter speed. That basically will add or reduce Movement Blurs, but is not the way to deal with a workflow problem” Thats exactly what i meant. When i import or export it wants to give me the film look which is always around the 25fps..but outwith this i can never seem to export the movie extremely sharp as per original footage.
Maybe i need to go to a few classes as seem be at a loss on this one, even though i have a decent understanding of movie making and fps.

Agree about Apple and its attitude towards its trusted productivity users..E.G just look at what they have done with Mobile Me galleries. Such a profit making company to decide to just scrap what they promoted and pushed us, their customers to use is beyond a joke for me and my friends. Certain friends have 7 years of work on Mobile Me galleries.
SmugMug all the way for me now.
I would leave Apple, but its still one of the most stable platforms.

October 8, 2011 at 10:09 pm in reply to: FCPX 50 fps..??

    Hi
Thanks for the quick reply. I think what my problem is that i want to keep video look that i recorded in originally, instead of the film look that it ends up importing in. Hence when i use my 7D, FCPX imports and keeps the “steady” video look, whereas the Sony imports at the “jittery” film look, which takes away the original smooth video look/format that i recorded in. To try an explain myself better, when i adjust shutter speed manually to around 25fps in the Sony, thats the look it gets imported into FCPX at, even if i recorded at 50 fps and above. I just want to keep my smooth Video look.
Again i hope what i have written makes sense. I am at odds here and Creative Cow is my last bet to understand this problem.
    Thanks

Just got FCPX today.. quick look around it and all seems good..very easy to use. New to Video editing in a professional way, but was always put off the whole FCP 7 package as was taking too long to learn. Had FCE Express for a while and did not enjoy it. For me FCPX seem great so far.
