My faults/sec seem to go from 0.000 to 1.009 (approx.) back and forth about twice a second. I assume that’s what its supposed to do, correct?

No, but it does progressively get slower untill RAM usage is at 100%, goes really slowly, and then it freezes usually after about 5 minutes after 100% usage. Is that what you mean?

Sorry that I may sound like a total idiot. As a student learning Vegas, some of this is pretty difficult for me.

I got all that down. I actually use Dropbox tons, and have got it up to 9Gb, but that is beside the point.

I think I may have found my problem. After Effects saves the footage as uncompressed lossless AVIs. The size for a minute of footage is over 5Gb. Maybe it was my stupidity that caused me not to notice that.

Would 3ish hours be about average for taking a 5Gb AVI and converting it to MP4? I’ll uninstall the codecs as soon as I can get back, and spit the AE render to smaller bits.

If all else fails, Ill send you the 5Gb file, but upload on DSL is pretty dreadful. It might take overnight unfortunately.

I am not able to check the original codec right at this moment, as I am on my phone as of now, but I do know the original footage was in MP4, rendered in AE to AVI (Which is just a contained MP4 as you say) and imported to Vegas from there.

I do remeber installing a codec pack a while back, but wouldn’t a Vegas reinstall remove that? I’m pretty sure I have reinstalled since then. The only other codec pack I know of that I may have is CCCP, which isn’t for Vegas, but for WMP. I will give reinstalling a go as soon as I am back to my computer.

I’ll see what happenes if I start splitting this 1 minute clip into sections of 2 or 3, then combining it later.

Well, I have shortened the estimated time down to about an hour and a half by messing with the quality, like you mentioned as well as bitrate and other settings. Granted, I haven’t actually been able to see the render, but I would assume it close to the same quality.

Interestingly, by importing a prerendered clip (like a MP4 output from Vegas) my render time is a little more reasonable, between 2 and 3 times the length of the clip. Ill try a reinstall when its possible and see what other output settings After Effects has.

Anyway, thanks for the help, it did something!
