oh ya…and you mentioned looping. my DVD is looping, and so how do you make a file on a stick loop? is there a function for that on the menu?

thanks for helping out a bonehead!

Great! Thanks for the quick reply, Joseph! So from whence does that menu originate, wonders my old brain???? Oh well…i’ll just do an mp4 and give it to him to try (i dont’ even have a way to test it on anything here in my pre-2012 technology house/office/”studio”)

Eureka! (sort of) Before doing a real-time Canopus capture, i tried a conversion in QT Player (v 10)..and it worked! So, here was my workaround:

in Finder, i changed all .VOBs to .mpg. Open in QT Player, export as 480p, and those loaded WITH sound on the PPCC timeline. done. bam. a little tedious, but successful.

thanks for the workaround, Paul, but there are many small clips on this DVD and that would probably take longer than just ripping it via the Canopus box. Doesn’t it seem odd that Premiere can do this natively???

i downloaded PPCC2014, and it did a great job of importing the FOB files from a DVD – once i had copied the DVD to my hard drive – fine (WITH audio!) onto the timeline. Cool beans! i then exported it as a QT, then opened PPCC and imported it no problem.

Now with a second DVD…it’s not working! Really strange. I’ve done everything the same. Even tried your idea of changing “.FOB” to “.mpg”. THAT works great and plays back with sound in Finder, but as soon as i import it to PPCC2014…there is no sound again.

Any ideas? This seems very strange. My last resort is to just record the DVD into my system via RCA cables and my trusty ol’ Canopus converter box…but i’m surprised it’s this difficult to get DVD content into Premiere. Thanks for you help, though!

    😉

p.s. are you guys all on 2014 now, or still with PPCC? i knew there were bugs awhile ago and stayed away from it (2014).

thanks for helping out a bonehead!

well, yesterday i got on the Adobe tech support chat line, a guy there took control of my screen and did “something” (though i couldn’t tell what), and then all the cloud menu options worked normally.

i downloaded PPCC2014, and it did a great job of importing the FOB files from ONE DVD fine (WITH audio!) onto the timeline. Cool beans! i then exported it as a QT, then opened PPCC and imported it no problem.

  • BAM! Thanks Jon, that works perfectly! BUT…i never had to do that before, so why now? I was able to select all clips in a folder and modify them all at the same time, but this is still pretty annoying. I wonder if i’m doing something wrong elsewhere to have made this happen? I don’t think i’m doing anything different than how i used to do it and never had to “modify” audio on clips. Very strange…

  • i’m using CC 7.7.2 and avoiding 2014 because i had heard it was still a little “buggy”. i also just upgraded my Mac to Mavericks, and everything else is working great so have been scared about messing with the system, but maybe i’ll give 2014 a try then??

December 24, 2014 at 4:33 pm in reply to: where to redownload CC instead of 2014?

alrighty…the download is solved (was told to filter by previous version – woot!). now, only Media Encoder shows with only the 2014 version – no previous version listed. how is it working with PP CC?

thanks for helping out a bonehead!
