Playing out file-based non-prores content does work just fine. You can capture to ProRes or DVCProHD with the box as well.

So if you are in an XDCAM world with disk based ingest, this can still be used for your output and monitoring device.

When the adobe updates for Premeire are released to support DVCProHD playback, then the Xena card will support it as well from what I’ve heard.

The fx570 isn’t an officially supported card for the Xena series anyway. The minimum supported spec is a 1500 series or better. This doesn’t answer your immediate question, but you won’t have access to some of the Xena’s features in Machina without the 1500 or better.

    Two things to check.

    1) Swap SDI outs, does the problem follow the output or the cable?
    2) Get rid of the Kbox temporarily and come right out of the card, does the problem persist?

No difference in the tapes from what I’ve heard. One just says HD on it.

You are trying to use the deck to downconvert. Use the LHe.

Output from the deck at 1920×1080 and set your framebuffer on the Kona to 525 and your secondary format to 1080i29.97. Capture using the FCP AJA Kona DV50 easy setup. If you have the LHe control panel open in the background, you should see “downconvert” inline from your component analog in source if everything is configured right while in FCP.

It should be noted that this problem does not occur with every 8 Core MacPro either. Mine runs just fine with more than 2Gb of RAM and ProRes with a K3.

It would be a little odd, but you could do it.

Problem here is that you’d have the speed of array A until it is full, and then the speed of array B since they likely wouldn’t be uniform. I wouldn’t recommend it, but it would work.

Depends on how you want to work. If you want to ingest file based and work camera native, setup your XDCAM HD easy setup and just set your video output to 1080i29.97 8-bit. This will let you monitor and you can print to non-XDCAM decks (HDCAM, etc) using it.

If you want to work in a non-MPEG format, use the deck to ingest via component HD to Apple’s ProRes and work natively there. Print to whichever deck you want via component or SDI (with or without downconvert)

Is your output in FCP set to Hi-Def still.

FCP 6 has the added “benefit” of allowing you to output to the card even if your timeline is setup incorrectly.

Make sure FCP is set to Hi-Def output and control panel is set to downconvert on the output you need.
