No, the connections are completely different on the K3.

But the Kona 3X board works with the Kona 3e for all future posters/cow searchers.

I’ve got bigger problems than the K2 box with the Kona 3. Like when will the Kona 3 (and Kona 2) work with Leopard. And when will the SCSI/Fibre/SATA host card drivers be written for Leopard. This is the stuff that will stop you dead in your tracks.

    Hi,

I read in another thread somewhere, that the K3 had issues with the MacPro. You could only run max 2 Gb of Ram to be able to work with the K3.
Is this true and has this been adressed by aja in the meanwhile??
because we intend to purchase a K3 and run it in a Mac Pro with 4 GB Ram.

the only issue is running Pro Res with the Kona 3 on a MAC Pro with more than 2 Gig of RAM. If you are doing ANYTHING ELSE, (uncompressed, DVCProHD, uncompressed SD, etc.) there are no issues, and you can have as much RAM as you like.

It should be noted that this problem does not occur with every 8 Core MacPro either. Mine runs just fine with more than 2Gb of RAM and ProRes with a K3.

the 2 gig limit is an issue with 4:4:4 and 2K RGB workflows only and it is an issue in QT not in the Kona Driver.

I don’t use 4:4:4 RGB. But I have not had a problem with 16GB in an 8 core.

FInal Cut 6 does some really weird things, but the Kona seems fine.

    Thanks for the responses folks.

    Hey Bob,

ATTO has released their drivers for Leopard (they probably write the aplle drivers for them too).

Now I just need every one of my other 27 applications to be compatible and things will be great!

Any word on whether K2 will ever work with Leopard?
