There is an mpeg playback plugin for QuickTime.

also, there is a free program called mpeg streamclip that will be able to open, play and do other things with your muxed file.

Welp…. i uninstalled and reinstalled and everything is working fine!!

I think the reason is because when i originally installed the program i didn’t have the VTR hooked up via RS-422 when i launched the program for the first time. I noticed something when MC loaded that i didn’t remember seeing the first time… something like “loading serial connections” or something like that.

Anyway… time to see if everything else is working properly!!

Thanks grinner… i’ve tried that countless times and still no go. All of our machines are on a RS-422 connection and i have yet to try firewire.
Also, I get that message (“The port COM1 is busy and cannot be used for deck control”) as soon as a project boots up.

I’d hate to do a reinstall but i think i may have to.

I probably should have made myself more clear.
I’m deciding between the Mackie Onyx 1240 or the Mackie 1604. I would prefer to get the 1240 but would hate to be backed into a corner later.

I trying to figure out scenarios where i would need to capture/layoff 4 channels of audio whereas my sdi connection wouldn’t be feasable.

Am i completely forgetting something or is there something else i should consider??
