Thank you for your reply.

I have been downloading the P2 footage via firewire directly from the camera into FCP. It’s quick and dirty but not a long-term solution. I just received new P2 e-series cards and will soon be inundated with footage to download to free those cards up.

Your email has given me the courage to fire up an older notebook with a PCMCIA slot to see if I can download via it to a hard drive and import as you suggest. Can you recommend software to use?

I updated the Samsung firmware today but that did nothing to resolve the playback hanging issue.

I did try the disc in my HP and it seemed to work fine.

The disc contains a BDMV folder.

The audio format is Dolby Digital and the data rate is set to Automatic.

I am burning to Memorex BD-RE discs. Is there an issue with burning to the -RE discs? I saw some reference to using BD-R discs rather than -RE discs but no indication as to the reason.

I am using Toast 9. I am working on a G5 and my understanding is the G5 does not meet the system requirements for Encore. The BD player is a Samsung BD-P1500.

Unfortunately the MPEG-2 version also suffers from long hangs during playback at the Bear Center.

Any thoughts on what might be causing this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your reply! I burned another BD as MPEG-2 with bit rates of 13.0 – 26.0. I confess I don’t know what those avg-max bit rates mean. I also don’t know the difference between MPEG-2 adn MPEG-4 AVC. The resulting BD works in my HP which has a Blu-ray player. I have sent the BD off to the Bear Center to see if it will play correctly there.
