I’ve set up a new project and imported with the MJPEG B Codec and have then exported the clip to Quick Time using the H.264 codec. (I have Animation as an option but not Cineform or ProRes). I’ll send it to the client and wait to see if they can open it.

Oh one quick question – I have a new Mac keyboard, the aluminium one with white keys. On my old keyboard I used to be able to select ‘Mark In’ and ‘Mark Out’ using F1 and F2. That won’t work on my new keyboard – is there a way of making it do that?

Ah I see (she said with her fingers crossed). How can I get around this then? Do I need to select a different Codec when I import the footage, which in this case is on digi beta? I’m currently using Media 100 i, assuming that Codec is the same as compression type. In the drop down list (under Project Settings, Codesc) there are 16 choices but only 6 of them are in black.

I’m using iDVD6 and it does offer the option of 4×3 or 16×9.

Me again, still struggling with export setting from Media 100 Suite. I’m now trying to create a DVD (PAL) that will play on a computer and in a standard, hooked up to a telly DVD player in 16×9. My project is filmed and edited in 16×9. I’m using iDVD to make the DVD. So far I can make a 16×9 DVD that is horribly cropped way beyond the safe area setting in iDVD or I can make a DVD that ends up being 4×3. Where am I going wrong?

Thanks for that Bruce. Yes, I’m running on an Intel machine (2 x 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon)
I’ve downloaded M100 Suite and it’s here and working. (Well, I can open existing projects but haven’t yet sussed how to get it to talk to my decks.)

Every time I open it it tells me I’m running a trail version with only 15 days to go, and counting. It asks for an unlock code to purchase the software although I’ve already paid and have had a receipt from Boris. Will they be sending me an unlock code before this trail period runs out?

Hi Tyler,

Thanks for the advice. I’ve up-graded to Snow Leopard (I know, I must be the last person in the universe to do it!) and, as expected my old version of Media 100 won’t run. I’ve taken your advice and opted to up-grade to Media 100 Suite 1.6. I bought it as a download from the M100/Boris web site, my payment has gone through and I’ve had a receipt for the payment. The only thing I’ve missed is where do I go to downland the upgrade? I’ve also had an email from M100 giving me the install code for the free 14 day trail but I’ve paid for the full upgrade.

Thanks Floh. I think it’s time to up-grade my Media 100. Again, I’m not very techy with all this but can I ask another question? Can I up-grade by downloading from the Media 100 web site and, if yes, which version would you recommend? Am I right in assuming I have what’s described as a hardware-based system? If I do that now I’m guessing it may not run until I up-grade my OS system?
