Hi thanks for the help, the conditions noted within my previous post are with the “Use external video capture” unchecked, when I have it selected and try to File-capture, nothing happens at all, I thought that I was at least getting somewhere with it unchecked, it at least responded.

Not sure about (6.0d), the splash screen shows Sony Vegas 6.0 (Build 84).

Either way I choose I can not get to “Capture Video – Please select a video capture method:”. When I select either option it hesitates a second and switches to the capture tab (not sure of the name of it, new to the program) but on the right is the preview screen and on the left is a large blue screen with “Device not available” underlined, preferences & Drive space tabs are above this.

I did not have the advc installed when I installed the vegas program, would that matter? I have not tried to capture in anything other that windows movie maker but it does fine in there, I can even import the avi file into vegas to edit. I just would really like to do it all within vegas.

    Your help is greatly appreciated,

    Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I found the video capture preferences I think, in the capture window I click on preferences and it brings up capture preferences. I have 3 tabs, general, dick managment & Device. Under general 3 choices: stop device on loss of focus, show video when device is stopped & show video when device is fast fowarding, also pixal aspect at the bottom. I unchecked all but I do not see anything else about device control. Am I in the right preferences? Also under device tab, type IEEE 1394, Blackmagic Decklink or none are my only options with no properties available for either.

    Thanks for the help
