I’m not saying that P-2 isn’t going to stay. What I am saying is that it’s impossible to place any time frame on any current technology. With P2, SxS, BluRay, Compact Flash, and who knows, halographic discs???? The Firestore folks figured that small, video specific hard drives would go for quite a while but now what? You can get 100 Gb for about 2 grand and the P2 & SxS cards are way more expensive than that.
Back in ’98, I took out a $5000 loan to purchase the second 32 Gigs of SCSI for my D-Vision. SCSI was king then but we could only dream about the future and new technology. The way technology increases today, I wouldn’t want to be that industry. Look what’s happened to technology and prices in only the last 10 years. the next 10 will be a real circus. There is a lot of money hanging in the balance.

I met Dick when he came to Phoenix in 1987 to give a seminar on his little trick bag and we use his stuff all of the time. I’ve even sent some techniques to him over the years. He’s a wealth of practical, hand on techniques and knowledge

Have you been to the P2 forum. We just discussed this very thing last month. My prediction is that producers will someday carry 250Gb solid state storage drives that plug into the cameras. But that is in the way distant future, like 24 months from now.

It’s probably too late but we just did this a month ago with a DVX100A. I had the white set for daylight and the iris at 5.6. At full open, they’ll probably be white. No on the Gain.

It sounds like a monitor issue to me. My first suggestion would have been to decrease the detail a bit but you’ve done that. You don’t mention seeing the problem in the VF.
The LMD9050 has a resolution of 1024×728 so you’re not seeing the true image.
As an experiment, you might want to dial the detail all the way down just to see if anything changes. If it does, you have tp decide if you want to take the chance.
If it were me, I would press on as is, wanting to believe in the camera more than the monitor.

We did that very test on Friday and the picture looked very good. We are prepping for a large green screen shoot and wanted to use the EX-1 instead of the F-900. We will complete the test on Wednesday and send some info. Please note that we output HD-SDI, not SD-SDI, to an onboard raid in a MacPro through a BMD card using 8 bit uncompressed.
If you are importing SD footage, expect some level of disappointment.
