Sorry Shawn but I’m not sure why you’re even asking unless you feel guilty. Anyone who thinks that your evening and weekend time is the same value as your 8-5 time is a grinder and a thief. We have a weekday rate and an after hours rate.
However, you should have stated so when you took the work on. So, you might have to eat part of it this time but in the future, state it up front. Remember this: if they got a rush job this time that took up your whole weekend, they have every right to ask for that from now on.

Exactly. It might not seem like much to store now but someday it will be over whelming.
We have over 2500 tapes in our library. I couldn’t imaging that being on a disc somewhere.
We have been laying off a lot of old stuff to DVD just to bring the space required down to something managable.
On another note, having been stung by B+H, we don’t shop there.

Having the phantom power on when you don’t need it may induce unwanted noise.
As for your problem, take the mic that you know works (the lav) and plug it into input one, setting the switch on the front to MIC, not line. If it has a battery, it will NOT be phantom powered. Go into the menus, under recording, and set the level to -50. Inside the LCD pocket, set Chan 1 select to Input 1.
Does that work ok?
If that does work, put the same mic into Input #2 and set everything the same except that you’re now working with Input #2.
Does that work ok?
If it does, now take the condenser mic and make sure it has a fresh battery. Then, try it in Input #1 and see what happens. If it does work in 1, move it to input #2 and try that.

Don’t know a thing about the other cameras but the HV20 is a sure winner for the money. We shoot mostly with big stuff and some smaller stuff but when we want the tourist look, like at the NFL Experience at the Super Bowl last month, we get an HV20 for the day.
Tape is the most dependable and the easiest to store.
It does have mic and headphone ports but isn’t that camera way more then you first claimed that you wanted to spend?

$ 30K doesn’t get much in the Red marketplace unless you buy into that pathetic $ 17.5k number that they are trying to sell.

1. And yes, it’s 1080i 30p.
2. The larger the imager, the more professional image.
3. Filter size is only related to the size of the threads on the front of the camera.
4. Make sure you get something with a mic input and a headphone jack.

Oh, I’m not stuck with it at all. I actually have two functioning units: a Pinnacle 3-D and a Matrox Digisuite. We have a movie on the Matrox that we’re still working on, AND, when I nee to create something with some kick ass graphics, Edit does it in record time.
If I felt that I was stuck with them, I’d advertise them or part them out and recycle them.
We used to be a dealer for Metro in Burbank and we NEVER had a complaint about functionality. Glad you liked yours.
