Going down to DV and then trying to boost it back up to HDCAM is not a good way to go.
You don’t even need a raid to edit EX-1 files. But, you do need a version of Avid that will work with the native files. The DV codec is a horrible thing. Horrible, I said. Don’t go there.

Also, after it coated, run a bead of hot glue around your cut outs.
the really good foam in the thermodyne cases is special “closed cell” foam which you can buy on the web. You can cut it with electric knives and “hot knives” which are those blades that work like a soldering gun. The foam guys can give you the details. We use a pelican shotgun case for our sound package and we paid a touch more for the closed cell foam but it’s worth every dime.

We put the flex on a board or plate or something flat or we use dolly track. the flex is just for flat surfaces

The Losmandy equipment is some of the finest in the industry. The flex is track is “flexible” and it’s all common sense from there. The flex track is for use ONLY on smooth floors naturally but you can roll it around a corner and you can’t do that with anything else.
The spider also converts to a table top unit and nothing else does that either.

On larger projects where we have a large cash outlay up front, we usually get a payment to cover our out of pocket.

The larger companies that we work with are billed once or twice a month. If we didn’t do that, we would lose them.
A friend of mine is a real stickler for getting paid on the spot and he wonders why companies don’t come back. Larger companies have accounting departments and certain procedures are to be followed. They understand that they might have to bend with a new vendor but after that, they expect you to respect their policies.

A Sony rep in the booth said “Under $13k”. And, it is supposed to be available in a “less lens” configuration. Now we’re talking.
Did anyone mention the on-board 60Gb recorder? Everyone ripped Sony for limiting the drive to 60Gb.
