Although I’ve read here for years, this is my first post…
I am experiencing the same problem, but when making DVDs. The image looks great on my Thunderbolt Display, and – as no one else has mentioned here – everything looks correct on the FCPX scopes.. but the resultant DVDs are very dark – unacceptably dark. This is on a new IMac i7 that I bought last month (after giving up on a new MacPro) and set up as a stand-alone FCPX work station.
Okay, it gets even weirder – when I export a QT to a drive – and import that into FCP7 in my four year old 3,1 MacPro – the QT looks good there on my Cinema Displays and on the external monitor – but when I burn a DVD it is still just as dark. Crunched blacks and ugly chroma – except for he resolution it looks like bad VHS.
It’s as if there is some latent demon lurking that is transferred over from the FCPX edit that won’t go away.
I hope someone has an answer for this, because I’m about to give up on X.
