For a 50 piece puzzle you would indeed have 50 tracks. Each track has one bezier mask. Once the bezier masks are created, just rename any picture to the original name of the jpeg used as the template to make the masks. In the example I posted, the first puzzle (an actual puzzle) was used as a template to make the masks. But I just changed the picture to one of my kids to make the second “puzzle”.

Thanks Edward. I have that also if anyone is interested. All the Bezier pieces are cut out which is actually a big job. But there are few 3D effects in the VEG file so all of those would still have to be added.

I’m not sure those links are working so here are the full links

I’ve made a similar effect which you can see here:

    and a shorter version

Unfortunately I don’t have a VEG file for this. It was so big (several hundred video tracks) that I had to continually render to new tracks as I went along.

If you want to do something similar, just get a picture of a puzzle (with less pieces, maybe 50 or even fewer). Use the Bezier mask to cut each piece on a separate track. Then you can use the 3D motion to make each piece independently move in or out of the field of vision. If you don’t have to render to new tracks, you could save the VEG file and then change the photo at will. I rendered first in uncompressed AVI to prevent degradation but still got some in the final output. There is probably a much easier way to do this but this is how I did it with Vegas 5.

    Good luck.
