Also, try setting the mode of the walls to “alpha add”.

[Dave LaRonde] “”why animate the Anchor Point?” “

… because it also makes scaling easier. Try it.

    Search the COW for “signature”.

The best way I’ve found is to use the Stroke effect (in a track matte) applied to “skeletal” open (two-vertex) masks — one line for each stroke of the character. The stroke layer reveals the Chinese character layer underneath. Make the stroke fat enough to reveal the entire width of each character stroke. You could also use Trapcode’s 3D stroke.

    Does that make sense?

    Bu hao.Bu hao.

Sorry I can’t directly solve the copy-paste issue, but are you able to paste into Photoshop then save as TGA (or TIF) with alpha, then import the TGA into AE?

Of course, this wouldn’t be useful if you wanted to use AE’s text capabilities.

    Good thought.
Also, have you tried rendering to a TGA sequence on the laptop? Though it’s an extra step, it might take QT out of the loop.

Ah. I see. I thought you were viewing them on two different stations, but you’re rendering them on two different stations, then viewing them on two similar stations?

Have you tried rendering on the two different stations, and then viewing them both on one station?

It may just be me, but I wouldn’t compare between two systems with different graphics cards. I’d judge by the CRT and ignore the MacBook Pro.

Yeah, the graphs really make the discontinuities stand out. Glad you fixed it!

I think it’s like this: it’s like tying a lens flare’s position to an object’s 3D position. The lens flare has to be in 2D, but its X and Y values wouldn’t numerically match those of the 3D object.

Maybe this would help. It allows you to make a lens flare follow a 3D light, but hey, position is position.

I think the MPEG2 compression will reintroduce the banding. I’d consider adding a bit of noise and doing some test renders.

Search the COW for “banding” and noise”.
