    Thanks, James. I see the problem, but not the solution yet.

    Could you post the AEP somewhere? You don’t have to include the sources… AE’s automatic placeholders will be fine.

    Trapcode’s Particular would do it.

    Which version of Quicktime do you have?

    It seems to be different for each plugin. Some will go right in, some require a free update, and some require a purchased upgrade.

    This time, it’s no slam-dunk.

    [Dave LaRonde] “I love how a technique designed to pull the wool over people’s eyes can become a Respected Style Of Motion Graphics. “

    … and wool-pulling is a time-honored tradition in storytelling. 😉

    If you move the camera so fast that the image blurs ( through motion blur) when it is close to the camera (that is, big in frame) then you can get away with a softer image of the talent.

    In other words, nobody will notice how soft the talent is when it is moving fast and blurry due to motion.

    [Dave LaRonde] “There will be other posts coming.”

    … like this one!

    I’ve never tried this, nor do I have plans to do so … so I cannot vouch for it in any way. I just Googled “fcp timeline” and “after effects”:

    December 10, 2007 at 6:15 pm in reply to: fade in and out without keyframe

    Continuing along Ross’ lines, here’s what I apply to Opacity:

    fade=this_comp.layer(“fade null”).effect(“fade length”).param(“Slider”);
    if (time < in_point+fade){ ease(time, in_point, in_point+fade, 0, 100) }else{ ease(time,out_point-fade, out_point, 100, 0) } This one requires a null layer called "fade null" with a slider control renamed "fade length". The slider changes the length of the fade. When we apply these expressions to layers, the fade automatically adjusts when we adjust the in/out point. If we used keys, we'd have to adjust in/out points and keyframes for each layer. These kinds of expressions can be timesavers when faced with a lot of layers spread throughout the comp. Don't forget to use "copy expression only" and "paste" to paste the expression where you need it. 🙂

    Maybe if you make a layer that’s a shelf of guns, then use Trapcode’s Echospace to dupe the layer …?

    James, if it’s still not working, try duplicating the comp and renaming the dupe “test” or something. Move the camera to a point where you see the problem, then delete everything outside of camera view. (keep the camera) The purpose of this is to simplify the troubleshooting. See if you get a different result.

    Can you post a screengrab of the setup, from an overall perspective view, maybe with the camera layer selected to see its path?
