The ‘Dark charcoal editing theme look‘….lol.
Yeah, i know what you mean, i also love that look, and
right now my entire editing applications all have this charcoal
theme running through, including Vegas….But as you realise there
is no option in vegas to create this.
So, what i do and would recommend is installing a “windows theme”.
You can google for themes, and when you find the right one, you
download and save to your computer. Then right click on your desktop
and go to properties, then install this theme under ‘Themes’.
You can then personalize further under the ‘Appearance tab’.

I am not familiar with camtasia studio, but try outputting the video
in another format from camtasia…then place in vegas without adding anything or altering the render settings (use avi-ntsc dv)….
and see if the results remain the same.

Indeed, sony vegas pro 8 can edit AVCHD and transport stream HD,
BUT, avcHD format is not too edit friendly for any NLE application presently……Hence there is a powerful, handy tool at vasst.com called “UpShift”
that makes editing this format a little easier.

David..”I tried reinstalling my OS”
simple issues as what you are having does not require such
drastic measures for you to take. Reinstalling your OS would’nt
solve such an issue.
Tell me quickly..when you place the camtasia avi on the timeline
and play it, does it look ok in the preview monitor before you render?

(Have you tried rendering to normal avi using the ‘ntsc dv’ template)?

Sorry Tim, that’s how vegas handles direct VOB files,its hard to get
a handle on it on the timeline.
However importing from a DVD that’s when it converts it to mpeg2 beautifully and place it on the timeline.

Ok Carol,
Run a disc check to fix any corrupt files that maybe causing this
trouble: follow instructions…..

Click start on your task bar.
Click run.
Type in: chkdsk c:/f (type exactly as written)
When a black screen comes up, type y for yes, then enter.
Repeat this process twice, then restart your computer.

When booting back up leave it and let it run its check disc process.

Yeah, seems a codec mishap.
Have you simply tried restarting the computer after the reinstall.

Just maybe you have more than one keyframe in the color correction
that you don’t realize is there, that changes the colors overtime as
it plays.
First, check the color correction video fx windows to make sure you
have only one keyframe at the start and no other.
Hope you understand what i mean.
