I was shooting using a Bolex with 100 foot daylight spools, not magazines, if that changes anything.

It’s a vertical line, translucent white (you can see the image through the line and it seems to fade depending on how dark or light the shot is), and I’m using negative film (double x 200/250 ASA Kodak 16mm Black and white). I have already instructed the lab to look at the negative to see if the line is existant on the negative.

May 30, 2006 at 5:01 pm in reply to: Normalizing Speed/Adding Pulldown for Film Transferred to mini-DV By TelecineYeah that was exactly what I was saying, it was filmed at 24fps, and the telecine was running at 29.97, with no pulldown, the only do one to one frame transfers. So I’ll have to conform it to 23.98 it appears.

May 29, 2006 at 8:18 pm in reply to: Normalizing Speed/Adding Pulldown for Film Transferred to mini-DV By TelecineSo I can add the 3:2 Pulldown in Final Cut (for printing to tape) after I have edited the conformed footage (from Cinema Tools), and it will look ok? If I were to conform the footage in Cinema Tools, and then output to 23.98 for transfer back to film (on the off chance that what I’m doing in this course will be festival worthy), would it look ok as well?
Thanks,

May 29, 2006 at 7:14 pm in reply to: Normalizing Speed/Adding Pulldown for Film Transferred to mini-DV By TelecineI’m not likely going back to film, this is for a class, and it will be projected on DV tapes. My only concern is that it looks too fast.

May 29, 2006 at 7:10 pm in reply to: Normalizing Speed/Adding Pulldown for Film Transferred to mini-DV By TelecineConsidering that it is appearing speed up, the conclusion I have come to is that it’s basically running 24 fps footage at 29.97 with nothing to compensate for the speed change that would cause.

May 29, 2006 at 7:07 pm in reply to: Normalizing Speed/Adding Pulldown for Film Transferred to mini-DV By TelecineI’ll try and find out more, but there will be no sync sound on this project. It’s a silent film with non-synchronous sound.

May 29, 2006 at 6:30 pm in reply to: Normalizing Speed/Adding Pulldown for Film Transferred to mini-DV By TelecineThese are 16mm daylight spools that I received from my school, and they have an in house transfer facility, which they don’t add pulldown for some reason.

I have updated 3.0c as of last night. I am creating the highlight in the way you have suggested. I insert an empty button for most of the menus (then change them to text only and modify the text from there, and choose text mask overlay) with the exception of the scene selection menu which automatically generates text and image buttons which I modify the text for.
