Your best bet would be to put Quicktime Pro on the PC to transfer from AVI to Quicktime DV and back.

I believe that if you import the file into Encore DVD it will transcode it to the exact data rate to make it fit perfectly. Saves trouble.

Too true. But at least Cineform allows you to try it without limitations other than time. And once you love it, the price becomes slightly less of a problem than when you first see it.

Download a trial copy of Cineform Aspect HD. It is only good for 15 days so edit in a hurry! The trial is fully funtional.

The HD screen is 16:9 so transcode to that. As you said, it plays fine in widescreen and in 4:3 – so what is the problem? Of course, you need a DVD player that plays widescreen but they all do by now, don’t they?

1. I don’t have a clue. Sorry. Sounds like a bug that you should report. Maybe a memory issue?
2. Put the Current Time Indicator (CTI) at the beginning of the clip and when you move it the clip will snap to the CTI, keeping it in place.
3. No. The frame size and codec are determined at the time of the project creation.

I have a video iPod, but I don’t know how you would jump to anything like a marker. What did you have in mind. Have you seen an example of this somewhere?

You know better than to omplain about cryptic messages old friend. I have a fix but I don’t know if it is for your particular problem because you didn’t specify your exact problem. But knowing some of your configuration, I will gamble that this is a good bet.
