Do you mean render, like in creating preview files? Or as in Export?
If you mean render, then why are you rendering? I guess the question is: What is the eventual output? Back to tape or to a DVD? If to a DVD, then rendering is pretty much a waste of time.
With luck, a RT.X2 user will pop in and answer the real question…. Does it speed things up. I imagine it does. Enough to pay for itself? That depends on how much your time is worth.

There is a new Matrox that might be useful to some people, but very few people need such things anymore. You are better off spending the money on more RAM, or faster processors.
It kind of depends on your workflow. A lot of people might find the acceleration to DVD the one thing they need the most. Others might find that the realtime 3D effects make it worth the money. You decide.
But I would stay away from anything except the RT.X2 since the drivers for the RTX.100 seem to be less than satisfactory in Premiere Pro 2.0.
Interesting name you have there, by the way. I have seen that spelling before, and investigation reveals it is generally a shortened form of a different name, whereas mine is probably from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gotz
I figure that my people probably worked for his people, and that is where they picked up the name. Quite common in that time. I am fairly certain he is not a distant relative.

Exactly. The best example might be that an hour of DV is just under 13GB. An hour of the same video on a DVD would be just under 4.5GB. Much of that is done through temporal excoding. Meaning that not every frame has all of the information in it. Which makes MPEG2 hard to edit, but great for playing because the decoder in the DVD player can handle it just fine.
That same hour of video, when downsized to a smaller frame size and maybe half of the frame rate, can now be well under 1GB on a web site.

I don’t know of a way to change it, but I highly suggest that you reconsider the workflow. Exporting to any DV codec before transcoding to MPEG for DVD is just one hassle that should not be necessary. If you export from the sequence directly to MPEG2-DVD, you will be much more likely to have a higher quality output. Even if just because you avoided the DV codec altogether.

It was changed. Many people are unhappy about it. Voice your opinion with both a bug report and a feature request.
It needs a modifier key to enable both functions as desired by the user. And perhaps a preference setting to determine which is the default and which is the option.

If you don’t have 30GB of hard drive space, or more, for every hour of video you want to edit, you will not have a great editing experience. Not at all. Around 13GB for the capture, then about that much or more for preview files, extra audio and other resources.
Buy more, or bigger drives, or don’t take up video editing as a hobby. If it is a job for you, charge enough to buy more drives.

Once I get around to upgrading my PC, I will probably test the boundaries of the new system also. I am waiting for the Conroe EE chip. When I can get it, it will be time to move on up. Still, some things will work, and others won’t.
