There is an option system in image and movie files to show itself as an Icon. Photoshop for instance uses this. If you don’t want this to happen you could go to View -> Show View Option and see if ‘show Icon Preview’ is selected. If it is all Image and movie files will use their own image or frames as the Icon. Some files that are created by third parties like Adobe probably won’t change if you delselect this option.

  • if your talking about Linksys a division of Cisco; their wireless routers seem to have a lot of problems with airport. I get a lot of “Can’t connect to network”. It sometimes takes a while. Other times it connects, but the internet doesn’t work and I have to try again. If you want a router that works every time and with PCs and macs you should try to get an Apple base station. I’ve had no problems with these.

I’m not fully sure, but you might have an old key; some venders change the serial algorithm over time.

Apple also doesn’t want the key to be used for more than one machine. On their quicktime site on the right side near the bottom there is a phone number to call for volume purchases (if you need it).

  • The only way that I have found to work is changing the date in the preferences.

Some cameras, mainly first generation firewire cameras, don’t respond good. If it is the firewire port you’ll have to get a new motherboard, hopefully you have Applecare. Also if you get your motherboard replaced, back up are data. I know someone who lost everything on his PowerBook from getting a new motherboard.

I’ve booted from an external firewire drive before. It worked, but was a bit slow and later my firewire cable got yanked out and it destroyed my drive.

You might want to make sure that the external drive is formatted correctly with Disk Utility, or make sure it isn’t corrupted.

    I hope this helps.
