I understand that on the Powerbook G4, the firewire port is connected to the motherboard. Is it possible to be repaired without replacing motherboard? Has anyone heard of lost of a short in connection? FCP looses connection at launch. (Replaced the chord already)

Some cameras, mainly first generation firewire cameras, don’t respond good. If it is the firewire port you’ll have to get a new motherboard, hopefully you have Applecare. Also if you get your motherboard replaced, back up are data. I know someone who lost everything on his PowerBook from getting a new motherboard.
