Well I’ve cut HD at full rez before, including Red 4K — same setup, at full rez with no problem.

BTW there are no layers, just straight cuts & dissolves. If this is a RAM/playback issue why then would some of the files I export also have the same problem? FCP is not outputting in real time, trying to maintain pace.

So aside from retransfer, any suggestions out there?

Should I just media manage the locked cut to another drive and build it again? Thanks!

    Hi Mark,
Can you please explain this in a bit more detail?
    Thanks

Then Prorez 422 it is! Would you recommend 422 for color grading before final output to DVD ? Thanks!!!!

I used Onyx and it seems to be working, although the time it takes to get from the Choose Setup window to the timeline is pretty slow. Thanks for the tip!

I just tried logging in under different admin. All that does is allow the program to boot as far as the default “Choose Setup” window, again… only this time it does not make the Beep sound when I click OK.

That’s the only difference. It’s still hanging. I can only shut it down with Force Quit….

Wish I could reboot from disc, but I bought the G4 used/as is. My only OS disc is Snow Leopard for the quad core.

Any idea why the G4 will not recognize any free space on external drives? It does read the files & apps.

    thx

    Extended journaled.

In fact I erased/reformatted a flash drive on the G4 yesterday and it still didn’t recognize that one’s free space, either.

Could it possibly have something to do with Administrator? I bought the G4 used and the Admin is former owner.

    Thx

Yes, I did open from autosave — same problem. I even switched users but that did nothing. Then I made a new project, renamed, and copied & pasted the timeline cuts into that. Bleh.

Actually I’m beyond that now, as everything has been reconnected by hand. It’s still reacting slowly, but just this project.

    When working on a different one: 1440 x 1080, HDV 1080i60, 29.97. Works fine.

So if my problem is a corrupt fcp file, how do I deal with that without doing damage to my movie? It’s an almost-locked feature, way too complicated to begin from scratch.

    thx!

Illegal character? Don’t know what that means. The files in Capture Scratch have not been renamed — ex: 0013ED. In the project bin, I renamed some of them such as 0013ED – Closeup take 1

The whole problem started this morning when I opened the project I was working on yesterday, and ALL the media was unlinked! FCP would not perform an automatic relink after I selected the folder the QTs reside in. I spend half a day just relinking the whole bloody thing by hand, and now I have the slow/won’t save issue.

(Client is scheduled for a visit at 8am tomorrow, of course…)

    thx
