  • I just saw this, years later. But for what it could be worth, it’s doable to make the lamp do things. I would start (in Sony Vegas Magix 14) on the lamp event with the video event,
“sphereize.” I would do the Ken Burns Effect thing, i.e., “animate” the sphereize. Most likely going into the negative about 60%. I’d play with thg center of the spherizing. And with pan/crop. And maybe with doing the same thing with video effect “light rays,” moving the center of the light rays around from beginning of the lamp event to the end. The pan/crop function could help the lamp to appear to jump, if done with several points or diamonds. And I don’t know how realist the intent was, but copying the event and changing the second one’s pan crop a little (say, pulling the four edges in closer a little) and then overlapping the two events a bit. One could do this and then make a still of it (it’s in help). Guess I’m trying to say that video event effects might be able to produce something like the effect wanted. And I agree that to get it just right would not be easy/quick.

  • Thanks all so much. I can report that Sony Viao F models don’t list firewire in advertised specs but do include the (four-pin) ports on the machines; that some of Dell’s Alienware models provide four-pin ports; and that some medium-high end Quosimo models offer neither firewire ports nor express card slots. Thanks again.

I thought I was done. I wouldn’t mind using an old version of quicktime and/or itunes. But now I can’t open itunes. The message says itunes .itl library file cannot be read because it was created by a more recent version of itunes. I thought it was created by an older version, when I finally got Vegas to work with imported clips again. Any wisdom?

Mike, thanks very much for your help. It took me quite a while to be able to work through your suggestion, but that was exactly what was needed. Thanks again so much.

some are mpeg4 files and some are mov files. I’m trying to understand why only the video files are opening in Vegas, and not the audio as well. These are files for which both were opening a week ago.
