I’ve only been made aware of CatDV by this thread (been kind of busy recently!) so i need to get up to speed on it’s capabilities.
I have personally been using an asset management system called ‘Flow” made by Gridiron.
It may or may not be a comparable product.

August 20, 2010 at 3:56 pm in reply to: Canon 5D footage looks choppy in Final CUt

I have just today had a client in who has provided me with footage for an edit that was shot with the Canon 5D EOS MKII.
I noticed that in one of the shots – a fairground carousel at night, the rotation of the carousel looked a bit choppy – as if jumping a frame or two every so often.
I don’t have a solution for this yet(sorry!) just wanted to let you know that you’re not alone with this.
I’m going to check this out and will report back if i discover anything useful.

I’ve not heard of a show being delivered complete with ads – these are usually scheduled from a different playout server completely.
If it is WYSIWYG then obviously you wont need to include the black or 10 second holds on the ads.

April 16, 2008 at 11:39 am in reply to: XDCAM/FCP – Missing Codec?

Issue was finally resolved – i think – by the recent plug in manager update 7.3.1.
I can’t be sure as i had been tinkering with so many different things but shortly after the update and a restart, my transfer software displayed previews and FCP recognized the XDAM EX codecs allowing ingest.

    Yay!

Thanks to all who contributed and helped during my day and a half of configuration hell.

  • I thought that Pacifist was for examining and installing the individual components of an installer package.
How exactly would it be helpful in downgrading my quicktime?
Does Apple keep installers for old versions of Quicktime?
I guess i need too simply trash my newer version.

    Sigh – no editing today….

    I have:

    XDCAM Transfer 2.5.1
    FCP 6.0.3
    Quicktime 7.4.5
    O/S 10.4.11

I have no previews available and the viewer says ‘No Media’.
I can import footage if i check the box that says ‘Import clips with no installed codecs’.
The resulting imported footage has audio only and the picture is completely white.
I have ten XDCAM EX presets available to me in FCP along with the other XDCAM sequence presets..

I’ve done my homework but it is still not working!

    Heeeeeeelp!

  • Hi.

If it’s any consolation i am in exactly the same position.

Clips will load into the transfer software but clips display ‘No Image Available’ and in the viewer it says ‘No media’.
I have all the Codecs installed according to the list in FCPs Easy setups, however the import button is greyed out until i check the box that says ‘Import clips with no installed codecs’.!?
So the list of sequence presets is no guarantee that the codecs actually work.
After importing a clip i have a file that has no picture but does have sound!!!

Where do i get the codecs i need?

    I am using O/S 10.4.11
    Quicktime 7.4.5 (25)
    Final Cut Pro 6.0.3
    XDCAM Transfer 2.5.1

Everything plays fine in the clip browser.

    Can anybody help?

I too am at my wits end with a project deadline looming.

    Steve.
