    Thanks John:
It looks like Boris no longer carries “Complete Training for RED 4.x and Avid FX”, but I found it on Amazon – slightly more money, but I’m sure it’s worth every penny. I’m looking forward to learning this application!

Does anyone know where I can get basic tutorials for Boris Red 5? I have found some tutorials online (the video ones are best), but the manual (if you can call it that) really doesn’t exist. I spent about 20 minutes on the phone with tech support getting a basic titling tutorial. The guy sounded liken an engineer which I can imagine was a waste of his time especially if you multiply my call many times over with other users.

There is so much that this program is capable of doing, but how? I have no idea what intricate steps to follow to make it do things and I’m sooooo sick of self-taught learning curves.

BTW – NewBlue never worked on my computer with Vegas 11. I would have crash after crash and finally just stopped using it…

    Brandon:

Did you ever get this figured out? I’m having the same problem (win7, Vegas 11 & 12). The WM encoder renders 30 frames and then pauses for 2-3 seconds. Some of my files are very long (4 hours) and I figure it would take about 4 hours to render instead of 13 hours without this pausing. Seems like the encoder is compiling for every block of 30 frames.

I have used Veggie toolkit since Vegas 6. Works great.

Yes – crash problems here too. About 10 per day for no appearent reason. Sometimes when just playing a clip, but especially during rendering. I suspect it’s when the GPU is enabled but will test it. But then again, you need the GPU for rendering. Never had this problem before and I’ve used Vegas since version 2. Is there a way to adjust the auto save to “one minute”? Doesn’t exist as far as I can tell.

Also the new titler is buggy and not user friendly. The designers must have never used photoshop or MS word – very clunky and seems like a design out of 1998.
