Anyone else experiencing pro 11 crashing?
Posted by Paul Gilmore on February 18, 2012 at 6:45 pmI always upgrade to the newest version of Vegas. I upgraded from pro 10 to pro 11. However during editing Vegas will crash for no apparent reason and with that I learned my lesson quickly to save after each clip has been edited and/or touched up with color correction etc. I updates to the newest update and stil crashes.
It’s pretty irritating though. Has anyone else experienced this?

February 18, 2012 at 11:32 pmYes. Bring back the stability of Vegas 9!
I found disabling track buffering under the Audio Device tab in Preferences reduces the number of crashes.
My system specs: Intel i7 970, 12GB RAM, ASUS P6T, Vegas Pro 10e (x32/x64), Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, Vegas Production Assistant 1.0, VASST Ultimate S Pro 4.1, Neat Video Pro 2.6

February 19, 2012 at 5:06 amI, and many others are quite happy with the performance of Version 11.
However, there are a couple of dozen regulars here and on the Sony forums who are experiencing problems. It goes back to Version 10 when SCS introduced some GPU support for AVC encoding, and exasperated it with GPU support in Version 11 for all codecs under their control. The problem, in my experience, is that the problems come from driver or memory issues that GPU support requires – problems that Version 9 and prior don’t have.
If your video card and driver is a couple of years old, don’t be surprised if you have problems. Start by installing the latest video and audio drivers. If you are using an nVidia card, use their latest Beta drivers.

February 20, 2012 at 3:26 amI have an ASUS GTX 970 with the recommended drivers and had an older unsupported GPU card (GT 9000)? The stability issues remain. Perhaps it is my system.
The only common denominator is NVidia cards. I did for a while have to use a USB video card, and it was a nightmare with Vegas.

February 22, 2012 at 7:25 pmYes – crash problems here too. About 10 per day for no appearent reason. Sometimes when just playing a clip, but especially during rendering. I suspect it’s when the GPU is enabled but will test it. But then again, you need the GPU for rendering. Never had this problem before and I’ve used Vegas since version 2. Is there a way to adjust the auto save to “one minute”? Doesn’t exist as far as I can tell.
Also the new titler is buggy and not user friendly. The designers must have never used photoshop or MS word – very clunky and seems like a design out of 1998.
