Unfortunately, it didn’t work because I neglected to mention that my original clip is 6k while my sequence is 4k meaning I have unseen parts of the image beyond the 4k boundaries I can work with.

The transform solution you suggested leads to black borders at 75% SCALE of original:

This does not expose the full 6k worth of clip available.

Whereas the solution I’d like is the unseen area of original clip exposed (here at 75% ZOOM):

For context and hopefully for clarity, here is a screenshot of the 4k sequence at normal 100% (excess 6k part of clip extending beyond 4k sequence border is unseen):

This is the sequence I’d like to keyframe zoom from 100% to 75% (while always filling the 4k frame) which would be easy if there were no cross dissolve transition.

Hopefully the screenshots have clarified things a bit.
