I’m new to learning AE but i think the only audio scrubbing you can get is by holding down the Ctrl key you can hear bits of the audio as you drag along the timeline, its not all that clear but you can use it to line somethings up. the only other way, i know of, is when you preview, but then you have to wait for that to save.

I’m guessing there must be a better way, but not found it yet though.

  • Hello,

i’ve been having the same trouble, spent a couple of days last week trying to figure out what i was doing wrong… but couldn’t find any help.. i think flash is the problem as the quicktimes it exports seem to be .swf files re-named, hence the small size, so AE doesn’t understand them correctly (there isn’t anything you need to do to the quicktime once in AE, the alpha should show up, if its there). I did try exporting the flash quicktime again from premiere using the Animation millions of colurs+ compression.. but still no alpha.

I gave up with it and am just using .png sequences instead, its slower to export these from flash but at least it works.

Sorry i can’t help.. but then starting to think its not possible, be interested to hear if you figure it out.

Yeah, i’m thinking flash is the problem, the quicktimes it exports aren’t proper quicktimes there flash .swf files that have been re-named.

I did try exporting again with a blue or black BG in flash, and when i played these files in the QT player the bg was white, which seems there might be and alpha in the file. but premiere and AE both have problems understanding the file.. so i gave up.. and am using .png sequences now instead…

Thanks for your help though, was starting to think after effects would be really hard to learn if i couldn’t even do something simple like that.

    cheers

    steve.
