If you know FCP, the new Premiere CS6 will be an easy learning curve. As Shane suggests, use can set your keyboard layout to FCP’s keyboard shortcuts. Most of my editing these days are primarily done in Premiere these days.

Edit your sequence in ProRes then export a QT Movie and create your photo-jpeg in Compressor.

You are better off opening the Motion clips in Motion and render them to match your sequence settings.

HPX-300 was known for being noisy. 370 improved a lot. You have to adjust your scene settings to reduce the noise. This is where a quality monitor is recommended. Adjust detail level, V Detail level and Detail Coring. There is no “perfect” setting because each scene shot always has different lighting.

Correct workflow is to use Log and Transfer to transcode into FCP. Drag clip into sequence to set its setting ProRes 422.

First thing I wold do is move your effects and media to a different location then startup FCP. If it starts, there is a corrupt plug-in or video clip. Digital Rebellion has a great utility to find most problems.

I’m not saying you are lying. I am saying that you did not search first before asking a frequently asked question on this forum. When I type in “import DVD”, I get 1957 results. “Rip DVD” yields 390 results.

Clean installs are always recommended.

FCP 7 is included in FCS 3. Shouldn’t have any.

You can save yourself lots of time by creating disc images of your FCS 3 install discs.
