DO NOT EVER USE LP MODE. if you need longer record times, invest in Focus Enhancements’ Firestore.

You CAN open a project in version 5.0.4 if it was created in 5.1.4 by using XML export/import.

You should consider getting more RAM. 1GB minimum. 2GB would be better.

As far as Externl HD’s. Make sure it is Firewire 400 or 800. G-Tech, Other World Computing, Lacie and Wiebetech re good choices.

Depends on how critical you want to be. The current Color Corrector inside FCP is very powerful in itself. It can be tricky to manipulate.

It will be interesting to see what Apple does with Final Touch. I am looking forward to NAB this year.

Nattress, Digital Film Tools’ 55mm and Joe’s Filters are a few plug-ins to look at.

You do not need an HD card to edit HDV natively.

It is highly recomended to capture your HDV footage using the DVCPro HD codec. You will need an HD capture card to do that.

Do your research.

DSR-11 will NOT playback or record to LP mode.

Stay away from LP mode.

That rumor has been around for a long time. It is obvious that Apple is going to release a major update this year to its Pro App product line. I’ll take the wait and see approach.

Unfortunetely, there is no going rate. You will find some people may charge $10/hr. and others $225/hr. Obviously, the more experienced you are, the more you can and should charge. Most training seminars go for no less than $200.

You are going to have to decide what your time is worth. Friend or not.
