I’m working on a 1.67 GHz G4 PowerBook, 512 ram, running FCP 5. I’ve been looking to upgrade with an external hard-drive but I’m not sure what the best option is. I’m thinking about going with a 250 GB Western Digital My Book, is this a good buy? What are the best drive specs for use with FCP?

You should consider getting more RAM. 1GB minimum. 2GB would be better.

As far as Externl HD’s. Make sure it is Firewire 400 or 800. G-Tech, Other World Computing, Lacie and Wiebetech re good choices.

thanks for thet info Steve! yeah, i’m upgrading my RAM soon (gotta wait for some freelance checks to come in!), the more i work the more only having 512 becomes a pain. was looking into 1GB, but now that you say thats a min., i’ll probably bump up to 2GB. thanks again!
