Tri-Motor – nice! Any landing you walk away from’s a good one no matter the state of your sphincter.

The footage was shot on HDW790, PDW 700, PDW 350 and EX1 all at 50i, there are also a few shots in there from Phil Bloom who was shooting with the Letus adapter at 25P

The Lenses were Fujinon HA42 HD lens and Canon J21. The HA42 material was shot with a nice O’Connor head and heavy duty legs.

HDCam material was captured via HDSDI to ProRes, XDCam 50mbit material and EX footage were captured native and dropped into a ProRes timeline.

Don’t agree with any of that I’m afraid, having worked with extensively with HD for the last 3 years my personal experience leads me to believe that 1080i does NOT have problems with fast movement. I’ve done many tests with fast movement shots (aircraft flying at speeds up to 300 miles per hour) in 1080i and 720 50P and I don’t see hardly any difference in the way motion works – what I do see is the increased resolution that 1080 offers. I know the theories but I trust my eyes more than theories.

Well I’m a professional and I’d rather have higher resolution interlace than lower resolution progressive. Of course I’d rather have 1080 50P but it’s not going to happen in broadcast just yet. The BBC agree with me and in terms of quality the BBC are a benchmark for the rest of the world. What the EBU are saying and what actual Broadcasters are doing is very different.

I have to say I’m not sure you’re right about 720 50P becoming the standard in Europe. UK is certainly 1080 and the BBC are now saying no 720 production at all.

Perhaps they’ve asked and nothing’s happened _ I’ve e-mailed a few times about changing from the HDV forum to here with no response at all!

There is clearly a problem somewhere as none of the footage we have ever seen with the EX1 has been anywhere near as noisy.

As has been said FCP CANNOT modify master clips – it’s an issue that has NEVER appeared on any forum – you have made a mistake somewhere or the original telecine was in letterbox and you didn’t notice.

Get someone in who knows what they are doing and for heavens sake back-up your files in future.
