  • OK, I’ve deactivated and restarted then reactivated 3 time – no go. So, I’m uninstalling. It wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t have to re-download the installer each time.

  • Sorry Kevin,

I’ve been through this before, so I should have included that I’d already tried this. I’m trying the deactivation route again though,. I seem remember that it took more than one time to take care of the problem. I’ll report back.

  • Wow…that will be the 4th total reinstall of Premiere since the CC version was released – but, it does seem to be the usual way to correct issues these days. Get’s expensive for those of us charged for bandwidth by the GB.

  • Not sure what version of PPro you have, but recent versions have been able to import DVD format(TS or VOB)files directly. Of course you first need to copy them from the DVD to your media drive.

Here’s a great explanation of which files are which.

Google “motorized turntable”. You’ll find lots. If you’re handy at all, you could fairly easily make one.

  • There were reports in the early days of Adobe Media Encoder that it didn’t encode to the DVD standard MPEG2 very well. Because of that we continued using Squeeze for DVD projects. At some point, we became unable to tell the difference between encodes from the two, and being that we can encode straight from the timeline to Adobe Media Encoder, that’s our preferred method. If you have Premiere, then you have AME, so no extra cost is needed to purchase another encoding software platform. Sorenson had added Premiere compatibility to Squeeze, but we found it problematic, and Sorenson support, though sympathetic toward us, could only tell us that it should get better in a future release.

I recently had an issue where I simply renamed the folder that quite a bit of media was in. The internal structure of that folder remained unchanged. PPro asked for the first media file that it couldn’t find, and I pointed the way, but got the dreaded “Unsupported format” error so often seen when importing certain media formats when your activation has gone haywire, except that it was even giving the error on WAV files that were created withing Premiere. I changed the main folder’s name back to it’s original, and everything worked as expected.

So, it SHOULD work, but you wont truly know until you try. I certainly wouldn’t get rid of the media on the original drive until you know for sure.
