They have a DVD player, and no one thought to give then a Blu-ray player as a wedding gift? Sheesh…
But…you’re correct, the file will not play from a DVD on a DVD player. With the setup that you currently describe, there will be no way to view the video in HD on the TV.

January 25, 2016 at 5:37 pm in reply to: Video wont drag from project to timeline in PP CCWe’ve recently had a few situations where media wouldn’t drag to the timeline, and it’s the same format as the media that’s already on the timeline. Restarting Premiere takes care of it.

I spoke too soon. The Hand Tool actually moves your media around inside the frame, it doesn’t simply move your viewport, such as in Photoshop.

Would be nice if they would incorporate that functionality, but alas, you must resort to the scroll bars at the right and bottom of the monitor.

I discovered another solution – rollback to 2015.
As far as what troubleshooting was done, the files played in VLC, of course, with audio. They also now show back online complete with audio in 2015. I deleted the media cache and database, renamed the media’s folder, moved it to another drive, but nothing worked.
I also tried transcoding with AME, but it couldn’t see the audio either, so that didn’t work. AE, however, was able to see the audio.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the Adobe editing platform, but I have bills to pay, and I have to maintain clients in order to accomplish that. Can’t spend a day or so troubleshooting software. I’ll give 2015.1 another try after they have issued a bug fix release and see if my problem gets fixed along with it. Or, on the off-chance that I have a couple of days to spare without a looming deadline.

It’s an available technique, but I’ll second what Dave says – the conditions where you can successfully extend the analysis area past the default would be rare. I’m in the process of doing 40+ interviews where I’m replacing the background with Rotobrush, and I’ve only had one clip where it worked. In that particular clip, the foregound subject’s color and luminance was so drastically different from the background, that Rotobrush was able to analyze from beginning to end without any interim cleanup. Not so for the others.

The lighter grey bar with the left and right pointing chevrons is the area to analyze. Simply click and drag the edges of this area to lengthen or shorten that area. You can drag it all the way to the end of your clip if you want.
